Shane is a qualified land use planner with nearly 10 years’ experience in urban planning and compliance working with local and state government and the private sector across Queensland. In his most recent role as Senior Consultant for the Enhancing disaster resilience in the built environment project, Shane facilitated workshops within each of Australia’s jurisdictions and drafted each of the four documents that formed the completed project.
Further, Shane developed the nationally-agreed Capability and Investment Plan Template in consultation with the Land Use Planning and Building Codes Taskforce. Shane has recently undertaken the development of the Queensland, Victoria and South Australian Capability and Investment Plans and is in the process of developing a number of jurisdictional Capability and Investment Plans.
Before that, Shane was the Team Leader of the Development Appeals and Assessment Systems section in Logan City Council where he was responsible for strategic, policy and system development for land use planning and business process related matters. Shane’s experience has covered a wide range of areas and involved senior positions in Council with responsibility for broad change initiatives.

Ben has extensive experience and qualifications as a Town Planner having worked in Brisbane City Council and Logan City Council in a number of diverse, interesting and challenging roles including Neighbourhood Planning, Development Assessment Urban Renewal and Strategic Planning. Ben has undertaken a number of implementations of low risk streamlined processes for Development Assessment across many Queensland and interstate councils. He has participated in reviews of State government processes with a view to implement risk management approaches to application processing.
Ben was a key resource in the RiskSmart implementation team rolling out RiskSmart to the high growth councils in Queensland. During this period, Ben was required to review business processes, undertake audits of past approvals, review planning schemes based on risk to identify improvement strategies and work with the council’s to help them implement the improvement initiatives.
Ben has also been instrumental in the implementation of the electronic application preparation, lodgement and internal electronic assessment facilities at Toowoomba Regional Council. Ben has extensive Development Assessment experience along with significant business and eGovernment capability and has been instrumental in streamlining local government and state government processes across a number of organisations and has been a key resource in the implementation of risk management practices.
